Things to Do in IDAHO CITY

Idaho City and Majestic Mountain Ranch offer a variety of ways to relax and reconnect, from on-property hot tubs filled with natural spring water from ROCKS Natural Spring Water to hosted gatherings and group stays. Our ranch is well suited for corporate retreats, meetings, and team-building events, along with family reunions and celebrations; weddings and larger events are available by reservation only with limited availability, so please call for special pricing and scheduling. The Bunkhouse also provides a comfortable space for friends and family to gather—ideal for bachelor or bachelorette weekends or a simple mountain getaway together.

OFF-PROPERTY ACTIVITIES

Majestic Mountain Ranch is a prime location for four-season outdoor recreation. In warmer months, guests can enjoy ATV and side-by-side riding, single-track trail riding, mountain biking, and miles of hiking—many routes accessible right from the ranch. When the snow falls, the area offers excellent options for snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and convenient access to backcountry skiing, all within a short drive.

If you’re in the mood for a scenic day out, take Highway 21 toward Lowman for mountain views, wildlife watching, and a stop for pizza before soaking in one of the area’s natural hot springs. There are also plenty of easy day-trip options in every direction, including Idaho City’s well-preserved historic district with its brick storefronts, wooden boardwalks, and guided walking tours that bring the town’s gold-rush past to life.

HUNTING AND FISHING

Idaho City sits in Idaho’s hunting Unit 39, an area known for abundant big-game opportunities, including deer and Rocky Mountain elk, along with mountain lions and bears. The region is also popular for upland bird hunting.

For time on the water, Majestic Mountain Ranch is about 20 minutes from Lucky Peak Lake and Arrowrock Reservoir. These nearby destinations offer fishing for bass, kokanee, and trout, as well as plenty of ways to enjoy the sunshine—boating, wakeboarding, kayaking, and paddleboarding.

Kirkham Hot Springs

Kirkham Hot Springs is a popular nearby destination for a relaxing, restorative soak. Set along the Payette River and surrounded by forested scenery, the area features several natural pools with varying temperatures—making it a comfortable stop in almost any season.

Plan to spend a little time taking in the views, listening to the river, and enjoying the mineral-rich warmth. It’s an easy, memorable add-on to an Idaho City itinerary, especially after a day of hiking, exploring, or sightseeing.

The park includes multiple boat ramps, picnic areas, and a sandy beach—ideal for families and group outings. It’s also a great place for birdwatching and wildlife viewing, with the chance to spot species like bald eagles, ospreys, and other native birds throughout the year.
